Information Systems

The Information Systems Department is unique in that it provides shared services for the Town of Scarborough and Scarborough Public Schools utilizing a single team of IT professionals to better meet the needs of the community. The department was formed in 1996 when the Information Services Department of the Town of Scarborough and the Computer Technology Department of the Scarborough Public Schools were combined to meet the increased complexity and converging technology needs within the Town of Scarborough.

Our mission is to provide exceptional, innovative, and customer-driven technology services that enable the business of the Town of Scarborough and Scarborough Public Schools to be conducted with excellence.


The Information Systems Department plans, builds, implements and maintains technology systems used in both the Town of Scarborough and Scarborough Public Schools. Staffed by a dedicated team of professionals, the IT team strives for excellence every day.

The Scarborough Information Systems Department is divided into two major divisions:

Technical Support

The Technical Support team supports both municipal sites and schools with on-site computer setup, office & classroom technology support, troubleshooting & repair, software installation and distribution services for end-user devices, asset management and technology planning. The team is the initial point of contact for computer, software and internet troubleshooting. Technical Support also provides software imaging services for the ongoing lifecycle refresh programs on an annual basis.


The Infrastructure Services team works collaboratively with staff to support all key data systems, network services and work processes required to meet the needs of the Scarborough community. Major systems include data servers & storage, disaster recovery, network and telephone. In addition, major services including email, system security, web development, emergency services support, operational support for all departments, and software integration with internal and external business systems.

School Technology Plan

Scarborough's Comprehensive Plan for Technology is developed and updated every three years by the School Department’s Technology Advisory Committee, made up of teachers, administrators, citizens and business community members.
