Voting will take place in Town Council Chambers at the Scarborough Municipal Building located at 259 US Route One from 7:00
a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
The Absentee Ballot for the School Budget Validation Referendum is available in the Town Clerk’s Office during regular business hours. HOWEVER, any Absentee Ballot issued Wednesday, June 17th through to Wednesday, June 24th cannot be return until the Town Council adopts the FY2016 School Budget, which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24th.
Therefore, your ballot can not be returned until Thursday, June 25th.
Voting without a reason begins on Thursday, June 25th through Thursday, July 2nd during regular business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The voter may request an absentee ballot by completing the Application for an Absentee Ballot form and mailing it to the Scarborough Town Clerk's Office at P.O. Box 360, Scarborough, ME 04070-0360 or the voter can contact the Town Clerk's Office at 730-4020 to make their request for an absentee ballot to be mailed to them.
As of Friday, July 3rd and Monday, July 6th you must have a “Special Circumstance” in order to vote by absentee ballot. You are request to fill out ‘Special Circumstance” Application and check the appropriate box that applies:

If the referendum vote does not pass on Tuesday, July 7th, another budget meeting must be held at least 10 days after the Validation Referendum Election and another budget must be approved. The revised budget will be submitted to the voters for validation at a third Validation Referendum Election. This process must be repeated until a budget is validated at a referendum election.
