Title IX

Scarborough Public Schools are committed to provide the support, resources and information to uphold our policies, state law and federal law on harassment and discrimination.  Our goal is to have schools where all students and staff feel safe and welcome. Scarborough Schools have many proactive strategies to help promote a positive learning environment for students and staff. 

Scarborough Schools follow local district policies, state law and federal law on harassment and discrimination. Title IX (Title 9) is a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in K-12 schools that receive federal funding.  Schools must take steps to prevent and address issues like sexual harassment and assault, and ensure equitable treatment for all students. K-12 schools must have a policy against sex discrimination, implement grievance procedures, and respond to complaints to provide a prompt and equitable resolution.
