Program Details:
The Scarborough Public Pre-K Pilot is...
- Free
- Open from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Aligned to the the Scarborough Public Schools’ Calendar
- Able to offer free lunch and snacks to students
- Open to all Scarborough residents who are turning 4 on or before Oct. 15, 2025
- Located at the Shooting Stars Preschool Program (152 Rt. 1, Scarborough)
- Staffed by qualified, experienced, and certified Pre-K teachers
- Limited to a single classroom of 16 students, selected by an enrollment process
- An extension of the public school and is mandated to be in compliance with Maine statutes relating to student registration and immunizations
The Scarborough Public Pre-K Pilot is not...
- Able to provide transportation. Parents/guardians must drop off and pick up daily
- Able to accommodate students with significantly specialized educational needs
- Able to accommodate all students who apply
Enrollment Process:
Please fill out the Pre-K Enrollment Form if you would would like your child to be considered for the Fall 2025 Pre-K Pilot Program. All names must be submitted by May 2, 2025. The Pre-K team will sort applications by the anticipated neighborhood school. Names will then be selected at random from each pool of names. Students who are selected will be invited to attend a screening. Children will be screened at Shooting Stars in early May, by appointment between 2:30-4:00.
Enrollment decisions will be made after students have been screened. Parents/guardians will be notified that their child has been invited to attend the program and will be given a timeline to accept or deny. The enrollment process will be ongoing until all seats are filled.
